SEMINOLE, TX — The Seminole Indians put on a show for the homecoming crowd, overwhelming the Sweetwater Mustangs 58-7 in a commanding victory at Wigwam Stadium. With the win, Seminole improves to 2-1 on the season and keeps the momentum rolling on their home field.
Quarterback Dom Higgins had a spectacular night, completing 22 of 31 passes for 303 yards and five touchdown passes. Higgins spread the ball effectively, connecting with Stephen Davis, who had 6 receptions for 101 yards and 2 touchdowns, and Logan McCormick, who hauled in 6 catches for 62 yards and 2 touchdowns while also finding the end zone on a rushing play.
The Seminole rushing attack was steady, led by Caton Cramer and freshman Landen Guerra, who added 32 and 30 yards on the ground, respectively, helping keep Sweetwater’s defense off balance and the Indians’ offense versatile.
Defensively, Abraham Castillo was a force, recording 9 tackles, including 4 tackles for loss, disrupting the Mustangs’ offensive rhythm all night. Aaron Sigala contributed 2 sacks, adding to a dominant performance by the Seminole defense that held Sweetwater to just 7 points.
The Indians’ balanced offensive attack, combined with a suffocating defensive effort, made it clear from the opening kickoff that this homecoming game belonged to Seminole. The victory electrified the home crowd and showcased the depth and talent of the Indians’ roster.
Next week, Seminole hits the road as they travel to Lubbock to face the undefeated Lubbock-Cooper Liberty Patriots (3-0) in what promises to be a challenging matchup against a strong opponent.
